A spinout bucket prevents your cast-off fuel from falling on the ground, so you can re-use it and avoid polluting.<\/p>\n<h2>Materials<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/8stars.org\/a\/content\/spinout-bucket-materials.jpg\" width=\"512\" height=\"384\" alt=\"spinout bucket materials.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>New paint can with lid<\/li>\n<li>Rope (5-6 feet)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>New paint buckets can be bought from a decent hardware store.<\/p>\n<h2>Tools<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/8stars.org\/a\/content\/spinout-bucket-tools.jpg\" width=\"512\" height=\"384\" alt=\"spinout bucket tools.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Cutting board<\/li>\n<li>Chisel<\/li>\n<li>Needlenose pliers<\/li>\n<li>Hammer<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The chisel will be damaged in this process, and must be considered sacrificial. A sharpened flathead screwdriver makes a good substitute.<\/p>\n<h2>Punch out bail attachments<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/8stars.org\/a\/content\/spinout-bucket-1.jpg\" width=\"512\" height=\"384\" alt=\"spinout bucket 1.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Remove the bail if present. Place one of the reinforcements directly over your cutting board, and use the chisel to punch through the middle. Slide the chisel back and forth to smooth out the opening. The opposite bail attachment has already been punched out in this photo.<\/p>\n<h2>Clean up hole<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/8stars.org\/a\/content\/spinout-bucket-2.jpg\" width=\"512\" height=\"384\" alt=\"spinout bucket 2.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If there&#8217;s any loose flashing, use your pliers to pull it off. Enlarge the hole so that it&#8217;s big enough to pass the rope through.<\/p>\n<h2>Punch out false bottom<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/8stars.org\/a\/content\/spinout-bucket-3.jpg\" width=\"512\" height=\"384\" alt=\"spinout bucket 3.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The lid is actually going to serve as a false bottom inside the bucket&#8211;this will allow fuel to flow through without the wick soaking in it.<\/p>\n<p>Place the lid on your cutting board and punch a bunch of holes in it with your chisel.<\/p>\n<h2>Behold, the punched-out lid<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/8stars.org\/a\/content\/spinout-bucket-5.jpg\" width=\"512\" height=\"384\" alt=\"spinout bucket 5.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Insert false bottom<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/8stars.org\/a\/content\/spinout-bucket-6.jpg\" width=\"512\" height=\"384\" alt=\"spinout bucket 6.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Wearing work gloves (because of all the sharp edges you just created), slightly bend the lid into a potato-chip shape and slip it into the bucket.<\/p>\n<h2>Tie rope<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/8stars.org\/a\/content\/spinout-bucket-7.jpg\" width=\"512\" height=\"384\" alt=\"spinout bucket 7.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Tie your rope with a secure knot, such as a bowline, through each of the openings in the bucket.<\/p>\n<h2>Done!<\/h2>\n<p>To use your shiny new spinout bucket, drop your wicks into it after they finish soaking, and spin the bucket very vigorously for about 30 seconds. Remove the wicks and pour the cast-off fuel back into your soaking tank or storage container.
