{"id":1363,"date":"2003-07-23T19:07:58","date_gmt":"2003-07-24T02:07:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/8stars.org\/aa\/2003\/07\/23\/covers\/"},"modified":"2003-07-23T19:07:58","modified_gmt":"2003-07-24T02:07:58","slug":"covers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/8stars.org\/a\/2003\/07\/23\/covers\/","title":{"rendered":"Covers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve always had a weakness for unusual musical covers. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.crossroads.net\/jnazak\/blog\/\">Jenny<\/a> knows all too well about the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/tg\/detail\/-\/B0000032C1\/\">Golden Throats<\/a>, and she flatly refused to listen to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dreadzeppelin.com\/news.html\">Dread Zeppelin<\/a>.  There are <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aprilwinchell.com\/multimedia\/\">some covers<\/a> just too weird to mention. And of course, there&#8217;s the reverse phenomenon: I was exposed to the Venture&#8217;s surf versions of Perfidia and Lullaby of the Leaves, for example, years before I ever heard more traditional renditions&#8211;it&#8217;s just as much fun for me to discover what I&#8217;d been missing going backwards.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to John Aielli on <a href=\"http:\/\/kut.org\/\">KUT<\/a> this morning, I was exposed to a different kind of cover. Something a little more high-brow. Covers of Radiohead by classical pianist <a href=\"http:\/\/www.christopheroriley.com\/christopheroriley.html\">Christopher O&#8217;Riley<\/a>. Pretty cool.
