Gwen resolved (for both of us) that we should see more live music this year. Last night we took a step in that direction by seeing the Golden Hornet Project<\/a> with the Tosca String Quartet<\/a> at Lambert’s.<\/a><\/p>\n

Neither Gwen nor I had been to the current incarnation of Lambert’s (and incarnation<\/i> is the right word for a “fancy barbecue” joint)\u00e2\u20ac\u201dwe had been to the old one on South Congress once. So we decided to make an evening of it\u00e2\u20ac\u201dwe got their early, got seats at a table, and ordered dinner. I had the brisket with a side of mac and cheese; Gwen got the trout with a side of mashed potatoes, and we split a Caesar salad. My brisket was good but not amazing; Gwen said her trout was some of the best fish she ever had. The sides were excellent and decadent, and the salad was also very good.<\/p>\n

The show was great. It consisted of alternating numbers by Peter Stopchinski (of Brown Wh\u00c3\u00b6rnet<\/a>) and Graham Reynolds (of Golden Arm Trio<\/a>), performed by Tosca, with the composers sitting in on piano for some of them. Some of this we’d heard before, but most of it was new. Some of it was challenging to listen to\u00e2\u20ac\u201djangly and discordant in spots\u00e2\u20ac\u201dsome of it was beautiful.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
