Edwards, fire in the belly

While I’ve felt that Howard Dean has been the only really interesting Dem running for the White House, I’m pleased to see John Edwards taking a stand.

  1. Edwards accused Bush of taxing “work” more heavily than “wealth.”

I’m really glad to see somebody making this point. One not-well-known provision of the Bush tax cut package was that it contained the capital gains reduction that’s been wanted by the wealthy boardroom set for years. Bush finally delivered the goods for them. There is something fundamentally wrong when we say: if you pull cables or dig ditches, your income is taxed at a higher level than some Wall Street asshole pushing dollars around in the stock market.
