I just got back from a two week road trip (in a truck) through some of the most remote areas of Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, and Nevada. I was surprised to see cross country bikers (with very little gear) at Independence Pass, CO (12,000′), in the Black Rock Desert, NV, going through the steep arched terrains of UT, fighting headwinds to get up the mountains near Vail, CO and Aspen, CO and squeezing through windy mountain passes near Austin, NV. It was humbling to think of how hard and long they must have peddled. Stay Safe and know that we’ll be thinking about you. 🙂
About how much is your Expe weighing in at with all your gear? Good luck on the first day tomorrow. I’ve found that getting out of California as fast as possible is always a good idea. 😉
